چکیده

Quinaldic acid, which was found to be a metabolite of kynurenic acid (l), was not conjugated by the rabbit (2), but was excreted by the rat both free and as the glycine conjugate (3). When quinaldic acid was administered orally or parenterally to the cat, the urine contained little, if any, quinaldic acid or quinaldylglycine, but about two-thirds of the compound was accounted for as quinaldylglycyltaurine (4). A minor conjugate of quinaldic acid in the urine of the cat was always eluted from Dowex 2-acetate columns between quinaldic acid and quinaldylglycine. This conjugate has now been isolated, characterized, and proved by synthesis to be quinaldylglycylglycine. When the glycylglycine conjugate of quinaldic acid was fed to the cat, it was excreted in part in the feces, along with quinaldic acid, and in part in the urine, with the glycyltaurine conjugate.

Detection of new human metabolic urinary markers in chronic alcoholism and their reversal by aqueous extract of Tinospora cordifolia stem.

AIMS We have studied urine metabolic signature of chronic alcoholism (CA) before and after treatment with an Ayurvedic drug Tinospora cordifolia aqueous extract (TCE). METHODS Urinary metabolites of chronic alcoholics and apparently healthy subjects were profiled using HPLC-Q-TOF-MS. Discrimination models from the initial data sets were able to correctly assign the unknown samples to the CA, ...

Incidence of Mouse Bladder Tumors following Implantation of Paraffin Pellets Containing Certain Tryptophan Metabolites.

Pellets of paraffin wax implanted into the lumen of the bladder of 38 mice induced one carcinoma. An equally low incidence of carcinomas was induced with paraffin wax pellets containing 15-20 per cent suspensions of 8-hydroxyquinoline or quinaldic acid, 8-hydroxyquinaldic acid, xanthurenic acid, the 8-methyl ether of xanthurenic acid, 4,8-quinolinediol, L-kynurenine sulfate, 3-hydroxy-L-kynuren...

Therapeutic Response to Folinic Acid in Me-thanol Poisoning Epidemic in Shiraz

Background: Methanol poisoning may result to death and permanent complications, sporadic cases of methanol poisoning are fairly rare and the largest experience are generally gained from managing methanol intoxication epidemics. The main metabolite of methanol is acid formic that is the prime metabolite responsible for toxic effects of methanol and since folate dependent systems are responsible ...

Quinolinate-induced cortical cholinergic damage: modulation by tryptophan metabolites.

Certain products of tryptophan metabolism interact with excitatory amino acid receptors to produce or protect against excitotoxicity. In this study, the action of several tryptophan metabolites, yielded by the kynurenine pathway, on cortical cholinergic toxicity was evaluated following focal injection into the rat nucleus basalis magnocellularis (nbM). Metabolites were injected singly or in com...

Imatinib metabolism and disposition in isolated rat perfused liver

Imatinib is an orally administered tyrosine kinase inhibitor which inhibits the Bcr-Abl protein-tyrosine kinase with high selectivity. Imatinib is rapidly absorbed from the gut, after oral intake and has an almost absolute bioavailability of 98%. The metabolism of imatinib is mediated by the cytochrome P450 (CYP) isoenzymes in the liver and gut wall. CGP74588 is a major active metabolite of ima...
